Service Technician

Location: Garden City, ID

Under the direction of an assigned Building Services Area Supervisor, this position is responsible for completing routine service maintenance and the repair, replacement, or installation operations for an assigned customer or customer groups on time and within budget.

Union membership is a requirement for this role. You must be a member of the UA local for the specific region, OR be willing to join the union as this is a position that falls under the collective bargaining agreement. 


  1. Schedule routine maintenance for assigned customer(s) in accordance with ACCO’s approved internal procedures.
  2. Complete routine and dispatched assignments in a timely, efficient manner each maintenance period or within promised timeframes, and maintain contact with office dispatch before, during, and prior to close of ACCO standard dispatch hours.
  3. Purchase or order required tools and equipment required for routine maintenance or requested repairs.
  4. Fully prepare mechanic work orders/authorizations and follow approved procedures for documenting work performed, related tool purchases, customer work approval, and any other relevant information.
  5. Escalate customer service issues that extend beyond authority or assistance to assigned Area Supervisor or customer’s assigned Service Sales personnel.
  6. Display proper service appearance and deportment while on customer premises, and utilize ACCO property (e.g., service truck, cell phone, and/or laptop) appropriately.
  7. Other duties as assigned by the Area Supervisor and/or General Service Manager.


  • High school diploma, Certificate of G.E.D or H.S.P.E. with passing grade in Algebra and Geometry or Associate of Science (AS) degree in Air Conditioning & Refrigeration curriculum from a JJATC/JAC approved Community College, Trade, or Technical School.
  • 5+ years experience with HVAC-R mechanical service and repair specializing in boiler service.
    • Knowledge of high and low pressure steam systems
    • Welding experience including certifications
    • Boiler and burner calibration experience
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong technical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong track record of successfully interacting with customers.
  • Ability to utilize a personal computer.
  • Willingness and ability to attend ACCO and Union training sessions (signatory sponsorship will be provided to non-signatory applicants hired for the position).
  • Ability to lift and carry materials ranging from 11-25 lbs. up to 33% of the time.
  • Valid (non-commercial) driver’s license with MVR that meets ACCO’s risk insurance standards.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, use hands to operate equipment (i.e. tools, computer, keyboard and cell phone, talk and hear). 
  • The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms above shoulder height to access equipment.  The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl (for purposes of accessing equipment in need of repair). 
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision.   
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  
  • Ability to climb up and down ladders as needed 
  • Regular and routine attendance
