Site Safety Manger

Location: Las Vegas, NV

We are looking for a Site Safety Manager to join our Henderson, NV office location!

The primary function of the Site Safety Manager is to manage all health and safety related efforts on their site. They will also assist all ACCO employees with site-specific safety requirements according to Federal and OSHA’s programs and any site safety requirements. ACCO’s Site Safety Manager will report directly ACCO’s regional safety management, however, the site safety manager will work closely with the site project managers and general foremen to maintain safety performance and resolve any safety issues or concerns. The following will be the responsibilities of the site safety manager while working on ACCO Projects:

SO WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING? 

Daily

  1. Sitewide observations and audits to ensure ACCO employees are in compliance with all company, client, and regulatory safety policies, procedures, and standards. Safety managers will also be responsible for correcting any at-risk behaviors and coaching employees on safe work practices. Daily observations (both positive and areas for improvement) shall be communicated to the front line supervisor for the area observed as soon as possible while in the field.
  2. Conduct at least one comprehensive formal site inspection of the entire project for safety compliance. Ensure copies are distributed to the Regional Safety Manager, the project manager, and the customer.
  3. Notify the project manager and the regional safety manager of safety hazards involving other contractors verbally and in writing to determine the appropriate course for correction.
  4. Ensure chemical storage and waste disposal (e.g. bulk waste, recyclables and hazardous waste) are conducted per ACCO’s policies and procedures.
  5. Review all Pre-Task Plans (PTP) as required per ACCO’s and the customer’s requirements and coach crews/ front line supervision as needed for effective completion.  A copy will be maintained on the project for the duration of the job and distributed to the customer as required.
  6. Assist in the selection, inspection, and proper maintenance of the project’s safety supplies, including but not limited to personal protective equipment, fall protection, and confined space entry equipment.
  7. Ensure the proper execution of daily inspections of mechanized equipment, scaffolds, and excavations etc.
  8. Assist foremen in managing extension cord management inspection and see cords are run overhead if feasible using non-conductive means to suspend the cord. 
  9. Assist the general foreman in complying with ACCO’s Heat and Illness Prevention Program by ensuring adequate water is available to the crews and appropriate breaks are taken.
  10. Assist the project manager with the Storm Water Pollution Prevention Program (SWPPP) when the scope of our work requires compliance.

Weekly

  1. Conduct the weekly tailgate meeting and ensure that the appropriate paperwork is submitted to ACCO Management and to our customer as required.

Monthly

  1. Inspect fire extinguisher monthly and documented appropriately.
  2. Assist foremen and crews in monthly inspections of Harness/Lanyard/Rigging and maintain the documentation.
  3. Conduct crisis management training as required.

 Needed

  1. Assist foremen in the safety and health orientation process for all new employees.
  2. Schedule, conduct, and document additional safety meetings due to unsafe acts or conditions on site.
  3. Assist foremen in completing PTP (pre-task plans) for high hazard activities, (crane lifts, trenching, confined space entries, etc.)  Submit the documentation to the customer as required.
  4. Provide or arrange an Aerial lift, industrial lift, powder actuated tools, hazard communication, heat stress and illness prevention, personal protection equipment, fall protection, scaffolding usage, ladders usage, CPR/First Aid and Bloodborne pathogen training. Ensure copies of the training rosters are distributed corporate safety and the customer if required.
  5. Develop and maintain a Site Specific Safety Data Sheet book of the chemicals ACCO employees are using and potentially exposed to on the project. Ensure new MSDS’s are distributed to the customer.
  6. Investigate independently all incidents, including near misses, injuries and property damage on site.  The investigation will work in conjunction with the project team to develop and implement effective corrective actions for the prevention of re-occurrence
  7. Assist foremen in writing reports of near misses, injuries and property damage incidents on site. Ensure copies of reports are distributed to ACCO Corporate Safety and the customer.
  8. Report all near misses, injuries and property damage incidents immediately to ACCO Corporate Safety. Within one business day provide a copy of the initial report of an incident. Ensure reporting and copies of the incident are distributed to the customer within their required time frame.
  9. Ensure all required Federal, State, and ACCO postings are in place on the job site, including but not limited to the Site Medical Plan, Heat Stress and Illness Prevention Plan, Industrial Lift Truck posting, Evacuation Plan and all other posting required by law.
  10. Assist the Project Team and Corporate ACCO Safety with projects as requested.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO JOIN THIS ALL STAR TEAM?

Experience:

  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in the commercial construction industry or a related field

Skills:

  • A broad range of knowledge in health and safety practices and OSHA compliance.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Able to Multi-Task
  • Strong interpersonal skills, able to convey trust and respect, in the day to day activities also in more formal, and meeting settings i.e., excellent communication skills  (both verbal and written).
  • Leadership, coaching, interpersonal communication, and building team relationships
  • Should have a working knowledge of computers, including Microsoft Word, Excel and e-mail.
  • Effective field application of health and safety policies

Education:

  • College education associates degree or higher preferred
  • CHST or similar safety professional certification preferred
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA’s and any other applicable regulations.
  • Must be willing to attend continued training applicable to a job as deemed necessary
  • Must have valid driver’s license
  • Must have CPR and 1st Aid Training and Certification

  2. May occasionally climb both fixed and extension ladders
  3. Must be able to occasionally raise a roof hatch
  4. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus
  5. Regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear
  6. Frequently required to reach with hands and arms
  7. Occasionally required to stand; walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
